    £30,000 upwards P/A (depends of skills and experience)

  • Hours:

    Full-time, Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 4:30pm (45 hours per week)

  • Location:

    Chichester Depot – PO20 1EJ


Purpose of the position

We are looking for Multi Skilled Tradesman / Handyman to join our modular building manufacturing team at our facilities. You will operate appropriate equipment to manufacture, refurbish and convert modular and portable buildings. Your job is important as it provides the foundation for strong infrastructure.

Ideal candidate must be skilled in a broad variety of construction jobs. Responsible for completing routine maintenance, undertaking repairs and tackling a range of other practical tasks. Day to Day works can include formwork, carpentry, plumbing and electrical work.


Key responsibilities & duties

  • Take pride in producing an exceptionally high standard of work
  • Have a keen eye for detail and a positive attitude
  • Should help us to achieve a first time fix approach, with snagging and call backs kept to an absolute minimum
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Completing basic plumbing installation / repairs (kitchen and toilet)
  • Installing smoke and carbon monoxide alarms
  • Fitting windows and doors
  • Completing basic electrical installation / repairs (lights, sockets, heaters)
  • 1st fix carpentry works
  • Ensure that your daily workload allocation is met, including right first time and on time.
  • Completion of electronic data recording on handhelds to capture productivity performance.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with Health and Safety policy, and all issues/ risks are reported immediately with all regular H&S audit actions completed and followed up.
  • Take responsibility for all H&S issues in your works area and any issues are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are used, cleaned, and stored correctly at the end of each working day.
  • Actively participate in the continuous improvement program and 5s.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping at all times within the areas of responsibility, by utilizing the last 15 minutes of each day to clean and tidy the workplace
  • Complete any other reasonable request from CAL supervision/management team including working in other areas throughout CAL locations.

Work experience & skills

  • Experience in Construction or Maintenance Industry
  • Experience working in manufacturing, assembling, or fitting job – Joinery, Coachbuilding, Caravan fitting, Cabin fitting
  • Confident in basic Joinery and plumbing skills required to prepare units for re-sale.
  • A General all-round knowledge of basic handyperson tasks
  • Hard working with a can-do, enthusiastic, first-time fix attitude
  • A strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team, supporting colleagues
  • The ability to meet deadlines and complete works to a high standard
  • The aptitude to become comfortable reading basic technical drawings – ideally, you will already have this
  • Must hold a full driving licence
  • CSCS card is desirable
